Growing up on a small farm in northeast Arkansas, Nate Spencer learned the meaning of hard work and quickly gained an understanding that hard work does not always equate to the intended success. Learning to take the challenges with the blessings, Nate began to develop his spirit and drive to become a forerunner in whatever he did. Nate attended Arkansas State University and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration while at the same time started a trucking business. After selling the business, he moved to Dallas in 2003 where he began his career working in the mergers and acquisitions group of Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. He also completed and passed the CPA exam during this time.
In 2007, Nate began working at Hunt Power, LP (subsidiary of Hunt Consolidated, Inc.) where he became a central member to a team that created and took public the first regulated utility REIT (NYSE: HIFR) in January 2015. That experience has proved invaluable in his career development and has created a host of wonderful relationships. He continues to work for the Hunt organization and is currently studying to become a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA). He also spends time away from work pursuing other various business ventures.
Most of all though, Nate is a Christ follower who has had a radical heart change. With his beautiful wife, Stefanie, and their two children, they live in the Lake Highlands area where they are in love with the community around them.
Chances are if you have talked with Nate, he has mentioned his desire to “leave a mark” on this world. After meeting David and gaining an understanding of ATF, Nate began to see an opportunity where he can help leave that legacy. Watching the people come through ATF and hearing their stories, it is apparent ATF is doing good in a world where good is becoming harder to find. Nate learned early on that hard work does not always equate to the intended success, but he has figured out it most always leads to a better definition of success. Seeing the hope that ATF is providing echoes that mantra and is bringing a better definition of success to those in need of it.
