Byron Sanders serves as Vice President for U.S. Trust, the private bank of Bank of America. In this role, he is responsible for connecting high net worth individuals and institutions to solutions that accomplish their financial goals. His client-centered approach guides investors through a broad range of investment, wealth structuring, and specialized credit and banking services. His philanthropic and entrepreneurial background has afforded Mr. Sanders a unique vantage point from which to serve a wide range of clientele.
Previously, Mr. Sanders served as Executive Director of the Dallas Education Foundation. Founded in 2006, the Foundation’s goal is to rally philanthropic, corporate, and community support for initiatives benefitting the students of Dallas Independent School District, the 2nd largest public school district in Texas. In this role, Mr. Sanders was responsible for raising funds for the district’s highest strategic priorities, as well as growing and managing relationships with major education funders and partners in the region. His entrepreneurial experiences came as Vice President of Group Excellence, a mentoring and tutoring organization serving at-risk students in the K-12 public school system. With the help of Mr. Sanders’s leadership, Group Excellence expanded rapidly statewide and was named the country’s 5th fastest growing education company in Inc. Magazine’s 2011 Inc. 500 list.
Mr. Sanders believes that one’s purpose and mission cannot be fulfilled without being actively engaged in the community. In addition to serving on the prestigious Advisory Council of the Dallas Foundation, he also serves as a board member with KIPP DFW, Big Thought (Executive Committee), CitySquare, Children at Risk, Friends of Fair Park, the Mayor’s Star Council, and is the Education co-chair of the WINS South Dallas Collective Impact initiative. A member of Dallas Assembly, Leadership Dallas ’13, Leadership ISD ‘12, Greenhill Alumni Board, and several other service engagements, Sanders is a committed advocate for education, economic development, and creating equitable communities in the city. He’s been recognized in the Dallas Business Journal as a recipient of honors as one of the city’s Top Forty Under 40 and Minority Business Leaders Award, a Dallas and Convention Visitors Bureau BIG Influencer, Who’s Who in Black Dallas, and a TEDx speaker.
A graduate of the University of Tulsa with a BSBA in Marketing, his first love is spending time with his family, a wife and two young children.
